About Dashing Dog Leads
where it all started ...
Dashing Dog Leads came about as a result of my daughter's need for an easily-removable lead that served as both, a collar and a leash. She began competing in agility trials in 2004 with her dog, Rosy Cheeks, and most venues did not allow collars to be worn in the ring. A friend had a leather lead called a “martingale” that works like a slip lead, except that it can’t choke the dog (see photo at right.)
Having been raised a cowboy, my dad taught me how to make horse gear, leather belts, rifle slings, (etc.) out of leather, so I took a photo of our friend's martingale lead and set out to duplicate it. The leads on these pages represent over a decade's-worth of evolution & improvement on that first lead.

She crossed the rainbow bridge 4 months later in June.
She is greatly missed.
...what keeps us going
The Fabulous 5. From left: Rosy Cheeks, Razzle Dazzle, Maggie McFly, King Ruger, and Bonzai! (yes, Bonzai!'s name includes an exclamation mark.) The Stampe Family of dogs, are pictured here in 2010, incredibly arranged atop a dog walk in our back yard. These guys keep us active with agility & flyball events throughout Colorado, Utah, New Mexico & Arizona.
Continuing Amy & Rosy's tradition we became a "dog sports" family, competing regularly in both, agility & flyball. Dashing Dog Sports (our dog training business spin-off of Dashing Dog Leads) is all about having fun with dogs. Agility trials & flyball tournaments provide us opportunities to travel & get together with friends & family and PLAY. Here are some photos of Ruger, Maggie, Bonzai! & Razzle, doing what they love most: to have fun playing with us.
